Water and the Lord

This morning there are all puddles of water all around and water continues to drip from the sky.  I was thinking about water as I walked.  In many ways this wonderful substance reminds us of the Lord.  It exists in three states (liquid, solid, gas), yet is one chemical structure.  It cleanses us from dirt.  What could represent the purity of sins forgiven better than snow?  It satisfies our thirst.  Some scientists believe that water regulates the functions of the body (did you know that it comprises 85% of our brains and 75% of our bodies!).  It supports us when we travel across oceans, rivers and lakes.  Sometimes it's presence is felt directly, like this morning, when we walk and drive through rain and other times it's presence is less obvious, when the rain and puddles evaporate.  Nonetheless it is still present in the air.  Just think, some of the rain falling this morning may be the very same water that fell, centuries ago, on Abraham, David, and Jesus.
Just as the Lord is in us, with us, and for us so He has made water a marvelous servant to capture many of His qualities.

Psalm 105:41 He opened the rock, and water gushed out;
                     It ran in the dry places like a river.

blessings,

Rob Smith
