invest your life

We have been considering how to "abide" in the Lord so that we can know and experience Him personally and reflect Him to a world that desperately needs Him.  We considered the importance of setting our minds on Him...after all,  He is all around us both spiritually and in physical demonstration, through all He has made.  Another way to abide in the Lord is to consider how we use our time.  We can allow the hours of the day to slip away...we can allow routine to pull us through the day...we can use a "survival mentality" to endure the work week and see the weekend as some kind of oasis.   We can view time as (a) something that passes through our hands, (b) something we use to satisfy ourselves (and just ourselves), or (c) the opportunity for God to do something in, with and through us.
If God is the author and completer of life (and He is!) then time must be something that He is using to carry out all of His plans for Creation.  What if we made it our goal to spend our time aligning with how He is spending His time during our time on earth?  Another way of looking at time is as: something to spend or something to invest.  When we spend we are using up assets to satisfy immediate desires.  When we invest we place assets where we think they will grow over time...to become something more.  Perhaps we need to look at our time as an investment, rather than an expense.   Do you have time to consider how you are using time...Are you investing time in and with the Lord?  He has invested the treasure of Heaven and His only Son in you!
