so you will trust in the Lord.

15 He speaks in dreams, in visions of the night,
when deep sleep falls on people
as they lie in their beds.

28 I will love him and be kind to him forever;
my covenant with him will never end.
29 I will preserve an heir for him;
his throne will be as endless as the days of heaven.

There's nothing you can know that isn't known. Nothing you can see that isn't shown. Nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be. It's easy. All you need is love, all you need is love,
Perhaps John Lennon and could have learned something from another Paul, who wrote about 19 centuries earlier. There is more to love than a warm feeling, or even a kind gesture. Paul (the first century one, that is) tells us, above, that love must grow with two important companions if it is to thrive: knowledge and discernment. We need to grow in maturity and wisdom just as we grow in love. It seems that when love, knowledge and discernment come together we can have a quality of life that is "sincere and without offense" and that is also filled with "fruits of righteousness". This, apparently, is the kind of life Jesus will be pleased to find when He comes to us, or we go to Him.

Oh, how beautiful! (from Song of Solomon)

So Brer Rabbit talked in a mighty humble way.
"I don't care what you do with me, Brer Fox" said Brer Rabbit. "Just don't fling me in thatover there. Roast me, hang me or skin me Brer Fox, but don't fling me in in that briar patch," said Brer Rabbit.
Brer Fox swallowed the bait and flung his exasperating foe into the tangled briar patch, thinking it would be the end of the rabbit.....but it turned out that the briar patch was where Brer Rabbit was most comfortable.
"Born and bred in the briar patch, that's me," laughed Brer Rabbit. "I told you not to throw me there. In all the world, that's the place I love best!"
With a lippity clip, he hopped away.
As lovers of Christ, we were born and bred for eternity and, at the appointed time, death is a doorway to the best place....it looks fearful but we once we are there we'll find that we are home. This knowledge can free us to give it all we have for our Lord every day...the worst that His enemy can do is throw us in the briar patch.
blessings, with thanks to Mom for those stories and to Uncle Remus (I hope to meet you in the briar patch),

13 Therefore, put on every piece of God's armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. 14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God's righteousness. 15 For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. 16 In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. 17 Put on salvation as your helmet, and take thesword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

14 From the place of His dwelling He looks
On all the inhabitants of the earth;
15 He fashions their hearts individually;
He considers all their works.

14 Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won't be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. 15 Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. 16 He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.
We often consider the importance of our personal spiritual growth. We know that we need to spend time in the Word and in prayer and we are aware that God has given us new life that we might grow as "new creatures". I think we may think less often about God's plan for the whole church, that it would mature as well. From the passage above it is clear that God has gifted us in different ways to help in that growth process. It seems that there are two purposes: that we would grow in unity and that we would become more like Christ, as an entire church. If we are His body in the church then that body is intended to progress toward maturity, just as the individual members are. I suspect that as we use the gifts God has given us to help others grow....we will find ourselves growing in our personal lives as well. We are saved individually that we might grow corporately that the world would see the living Christ in His body on earth.
