forest painter

We had a snowfall last night.  This morning a white coat has been thrown over the ground.  My walk took me through our back yard, over a creek and up the far side.  It was the wet kind of snow that sticks to any surface it lands upon.  As I came upon one particularly large tree, with hundreds of spreading branches I realized that God is a marvelous artist and with this snow He delicately applied a fragile layer of white to every inch of every limb.  For a human to apply such a coating would take days of time and it is difficult to imagine what kind of brush or spray could achieve the same delicate result.  Yes, the Lord is a forest painter and He has transformed the naked branches of winter trees and given them a coat of white.   He is also able to touch every tiny branch of my life and bring beauty from what appears to be lifeless.  His hands are both mighty and tender and His touch is that of a loving artist.

Psalm 147:16 He sends the snow like white wool; he scatters frost upon the ground like ashes.
