pushing the future

On the way from work last night I watched a young mom pushing her little one in a stroller.  They were apparently headed out for an evening walk, probably to no where in particular.  I thought about the constant joy a mother has for her child.  The child represents the fulfillment of many dreams for the mother.  There was probably the great dream of anticipation...followed by the excitement of realized pregnancy...followed by more anticipation of the child's gender...answered by the great drama of labor and delivery...and now the daily wonder of beholding a unique personality unfolding and opening like some kind of progressively blooming flower.  Such a wonder engenders the deepest of love and opens rich mines of patience and grace.  Just as the young mom pushes the stroller in front, as she walks, so she announces to the world: "Come and see this little wonder...this living proof that love is passing to a new generation.  Here is the miracle of life!"

Perhaps this is something like the love our Heavenly Father has for us, as He reaches us with the message of His salvation and we respond to begin our walk with Him.

Ecclesiastes 11:Just as you cannot understand the path of the wind or the mystery of a tiny baby growing in its mother's womb, so you cannot understand the activity of God, who does all things.

blessings,
