Fw: lasting value

Hebrews 1:

10       ..."You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning,

    and the heavens are the work of your hands;
11 they will perish, but you remain;
    they will all wear out like a garment,
12 like a robe you will roll them up,
    like a garment they will be changed.
But you are the same,

    and your years will have no end."

Think about the longest lasting, most permanent thing you have experienced or seen.  Oceans...mountains...rivers seem so massive and lasting.  Or look up to the stars, through the vast expanse of space.  Consider the sun and moon.  ...Or the earth and its continents, ruled by men and governments.  These seem like lasting, permanent things.  We trust the seasons to continue to roll (though sometimes spring seems delayed!!) and for the earth to go through the cycles of planting and harvest.
-
Perhaps the greatest test of truth is that which is longest lasting.  We are reminded from the passage above that Jesus (referred to as Lord there) was in the beginning and was God's agent to form all that we see.  And all of those familiar things that seem so permanent from our experience will ultimately "wear out like a garment".  As it says "they will perish, but you remain".  Not only was Jesus the agent of Creation, He will be the agent of ending the Creation: "like a robe you will roll them up".
-
When all of Creation has run its course and Jesus has "rolled it up" what will be left?  Jesus will continue on: "your years will have no end" and "they will perish, but you remain".
-
Think about yourself.  If all of Creation will one day be rolled up like a robe or wear out where will you be at that point?
-
In our brief lifetime on this temporary surface God has created a window of opportunity for us to join Him now so that we can be with Him on the other side of Creation's existence.  Consider the following verse...just one of many identical promises made by Jesus:
-
John 5:24 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.  and
1 John 5:
11 And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.  13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.
And 'eternal life' is life that never ends, in the company of the one who is the definition of life itself!

"Death is inevitable.  Life is a choice!"

John 11:25
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live."
